Mountain Biking in Sedona
or mountain biking enthusiasts, there's no better place than Sedona, Arizona. From rambling on little used roads through the majestic Ponderosa Pine forests to the steep switchbacks, slickrock single tracks and the amazing views, you can't beat Sedona. The red rock basins offer some of the most incredible scenery experienced whilst biking.
Sedona mountain biking trails yield all the qualities that a good mountain biking area can possess. Another plus is that it's still relatively undiscovered, so you can enjoy the endless miles of twisty single tracks amongst the cactus in relative solitude. But, be prepared! The high Arizona desert environment, the terrain and myriad trails can be hard on equipment and unfit riders.
Slickrock, dirt, sand, scenery. Sedona is rightly becoming a prime mountain biking destination and is a must for anyone, from serious rider to beginner, visiting the area. Make sure you take the camera along, as you will want to remember your days on the trails.
Popular mountain biking trails in the area include the Bell Rock Pathway, a beginner's ride along rolling terrain. It's worth a trip for the scenery and the many intersections crossing the trail offer a bigger challenge for the more serious rider. Or visit the Red Rock State Park, with its diverse wildlife and vegetation that enhance the astounding biking opportunities. For the more experienced rider, try the Broken Arrow trail, hard-packed and fast, and the short, steep sections will keep you on your toes.
