The Elote Experience

Elote. It means corn in Spanish. A simple word. The Elote Cafe, quite simply, serves delicious food.  We started with their signature dish, Elote; fire roasted corn with spicy mayo, lime and cotija cheese. Amazing.

You know how it is when you are having a great evening? A blood orange margarita in one hand and plate of smoked chicken enchiladas that melt in your mouth in front of you? When you are having fun conversation with a friend, who is eating pork carnitas with red chili sauce? You have take a bite of their food because it looks so scrumptious from your side of the table and you want to share a bite of what you are eating because you don’t want them to miss out? When you are full of good food and drink, but can’t resist ordering the Pastel de Elote, a Veracruz style sweet corn cake served with Dulce de Leche  and homemade vanilla bean ice cream for dessert, just to have one more awesome culinary experience? That’s how it was.

You should go, but go early. Elote doesn’tt take reservations, and last night we were there 20 minutes before they opened their doors at 5:00pm, and there was already a line….but if you have to wait, it will be worth it.
