Meet the team! Wes has been with the Sedona Real for more than 2 years. He is always wearing a smile and be happy to help you with anything while you are staying with us. He wanted to tell you a little bit about his favorite restaurant, Judi’s Restaurant & Lounge.
A hidden treasure nestled in a small shopping center not very visible from 89A (ask our concierge for directions), is Judi’s. Judi’s is a great place for a nice light meal or a full lunch or dinner. What I would recommend is splitting the chopped chef salad as starter. Then I would either have the full flavored pepper blue NY strip or the “to die for” slow cooked baby back ribs. Follow that up with Pistachio Ice cream or the BBCCCCP (Butter Brittle Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Pie).
Oh yeah don’t forget to stop by for lunch and tell Alice (manager and head chef) I said,“HI”.
Wes was telling me all about that pie the other night and I got a tooth ache just hearing about it! I’ve definitely gotta try Judi’s out.
Red Rock Pass Fees Waived the First Two Saturdays in June
In celebration of National Trails Day & Get Outdoors Day, the Red Rock Ranger District will waive Red Rock Pass day-use fees for the first two Saturdays in June, including June 2 and 9. The public is encouraged to get out and explore over 15 miles of new multiple use trails now available in the Dry Creek area, Soldiers Wash area, and west of SR 179 near Bell Rock. These trails include: the Aerie Trail, Mescal Trail, Chuck wagon Trail, Soldiers Wash trail network, and the Slim Shady Trail.
These two fee-free days cover the entire Red Rock Pass area, including: Palatki, Honanki, and V Bar V cultural sites, and approximately 300 miles of multiple-use trails. Areas not included in the fee waiver program are campgrounds and recreation areas managed under concession contract, including Call of the Canyon, Grasshopper Point, and Crescent Moon Ranch.
For more information concerning fee free days on the Coconino National Forest and Red Rock Ranger District, please call 203-2900 or visit redrockcountry.org.
Amazing Ribs…Kissed by Smoke, Hugged by Sauce and Borne by Fire!
About a five minute drive from the hotel is a restaurant called Red Rock BBQ. It’s been on my radar for a while (it’s near my nail place), but I haven’t had a chance to go in and check it out until last month. The location is great for getting views of the red rocks. There motto is “BBQ with a View.” In the dining area they have huge windows to look at the views and there is outdoor seating as well.
We discovered that on Fridays they have a special on their menu: 1/2 Slab of Baby Back Ribs, 1/4 lb of Pulled Pork, 1/4 lb of Pulled Chicken, 1/4 lb of Beef Brisket, 4 pieces of buttered bread and 2 sides. This is plenty of food for 2 people. We’ve gone twice since we enjoyed it so much. The first time we got the coleslaw and the corn as a side, and the 2cnd time we got the potato salad and the baked beans as the sides. I wasn’t fond of the coleslaw, tasted kinda blah, but the potato salad was tasty.
All of the meat is delicious. I really like the ribs and the pulled pork. They have a sweet tangy sauce that is really nice, but the pepper sauce was awful. Tasted really weird to me.
The service is great. We had the same waiter both times and he was attentive and the food came out quick.
If you’re in town and looking for some great BBQ I would definitely recommend Red Rock BBQ!
